I don't know about any of you, but I can't afford to buy couture fashion at original prices. I do, however, sometimes snag certain Objects Of Desire at incredible discounts -- usually, of course, a season after their debut.
Here's my absolute best find: I was desperately in love with an Alexander McQueen jacket one year (if anyone recalls, it was the spring collection based on a shipreck/pirate theme, maybe 2003). Fast forward to me in the Barney's outlet the following December, where I discover a single example of The Jacket, my size, at about 85% off. Candidly, it was still a splurge, but worth every cent!
Anyone have other triumphs to share?

UUUHHHH
My best find was a st Laurent heavy silk satin purple jacket
with these huge sleeves & queenly giant collar
that surrounded the back & shoulders~~~~~ for 3$!!!!!!!!
That I didn't buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bcz I'd never use it........
Instead I bought the for real Sciapparelli original lingerie bag...... which I honor but still am huanted by the St Laurent stupid tick.
I also though do have a gown hand painted for Rita Hayward - white silk with a floral motif of bright colors & the hem painted black - $18
I once put out hundreds for Yamamoto glass frames! Then had the prescription updated & tinted & bought special made clip on sun glasses for them -- all together?
Almost $900 I think.
But that's not the stupid part: I wore them hiking with a new love as if that would impress him, hit my head on a tree branch, knocking off my glasses! The others helped me to sit on a log not thinking about my glasses which are now lost to the mlch in a place called the Elfin Forest~~~~~~~~~
Not that you asked about stupid buys I just got on a mind roll *~* -

Lovely Chanel Shoes that were originally $950 and were down to $300. Plus I got my mom to buy them for me!!! :)
Suede neon green Versace slip ons for $80. Shoulda bought the other pair that was neon purple... shame!
Similiar mistake with a Missoni sweater a couple years ago. I should have just bought it!
There is a second hand store near me that always has a ton of Marc Jacobs there. So those were always a good deal.
I used to allow myself a single big pruchase of my Neiman Marcus card at a time, and had to pay that off before I got to get something else. Neimans has this great 30/30 sale a few times a year- most of my stuff I got there. Like a cashmere Prada sweater for $60. WOW. But now with a baby, I buy way too expensive baby stuff and there is nothing left for me... but I am pretty stocked up so its ok!!
Having learned from my mistakes, if I see an amazing deal, I always buy it. I will either wear it, or make it an amazing gift!
